Key beliefs held by new age religion
The followers of a new age religion, which essentially
entails spirituality as its central element, hold many common beliefs, however,
individuals are also encouraged to search
for their own beliefs, which they are most comfortable with. Major confusions
have been generated regarding the new age by academics, cult groups,
fundamentalists, and people from Christianity and Islam, among which some have
been declined while others now a part of the basic
ideology. Some of the new age beliefs are mentioned below.
Monism
It is the most widely held belief
in new age religion that whatever that exists comes from a single source of
divine energy. The source is responsible for all that is happening around us
and the aim is to get closer to it as much as you can.
Pantheism
In simplistic terms, it can be defined as ‘All that exists is
God; God is all that exists’. It does not distinguish
God from all that exists, instead, believes God to be a part of everything,
including oneself. The traditional definition of God in various religions is
confused by Pantheism as an individual would seek God within oneself as well as
in other parts of the universe.
Panentheism
Panentheism projects the belief
that God is all that exists and exceeds everything in a universe even the
universe itself.
Reincarnation
Followers of new age religion
believe in life after death. They argue that we tend to live another life as a human after death and the cycle repeats itself
for a number of times. As transmigration of the soul
is believed to occur in Hinduism, a similar concept to reincarnation.
Karma
All the good and bad that we do is
being added to our records and we will be either rewarded or punished for it
accordingly. It’s a belief held by many religions around the globe.
Aura
An aura is believed to be a field
of energy, which is radiated by the body and is invisible, however, can be
detected by shimmering or changed body color. New age religion believes that an
aura can be used to heal the state of mind as well as physical health.
